As I wrap-up my third wedding "season"…I feel the need to talk about and share my thoughts about the "T" in LGBT…especially when it comes to weddings and all the "issues" now.
These issues are at the root of all transgender advocacy. Many of them reflect the current state of the legal system in America. In working to overturn this legislation, groups like NTAC are committed to not only bettering the lives of gender variant people through less discrimination—they are also focused on changing the status quo of tolerance and acceptance in society as a whole.

As I sit in my office at the New LGBTQI Center, temporarily at 1300 Locust Street, in downtown Des Moines, my eyes are drawn to a matted and framed copy of an April 30th, 2009 DSM Register article, about my launching a business called “Gay Weddings with PANACHE”.
In recent weeks, I’ve found the need to put destination-wedding packages together for several Iowa couples who’ll come from all four corners of this great state this summer. From a “Bridges of Madison Co.” package for a couple from Dubuque, to an “Iowa’s Capitol” package (with a rooftop wedding that over looks the Capitol building) for a couple from Council Bluffs, all four of them will sparkle and dazzle, I promise.
During these past few weeks, I’ve headed South and had the opportunity to check out a fabulous NEW resort (and gay weddings venue!) on Rathbun Lake called Honey Creek Resort, and all I can say is I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!
Family Traditions.
These are two of the most powerful words when it comes to weddings… both Gay and Straight, and I feel like this is an important time to address them. Especially since last month was PRIDE month
