So today the Iowa Supreme Court again unanimously ruled that same-gender couples (and their children!) should be given equal legal protection to their opposite-gender-couple counterparts. Today's ruling was that the names of both spouses of a married same-gender couple should be included on a birth certificate for a child born into their marriage. Meaning, as with opposite-gender couples who require a surrogate egg or sperm donor to have children, the birth certificate is intended to prove and enforce legal parenting responsibility rather than being a record of biological parentage:

Married same-sex couples have the same rights as married heterosexuals to have both parents listed on the birth certificates of their newborn children, the Iowa Supreme Court ruled this morning.
