Minnesota House advances marriage equality bill poised to become law (MetroWeekly)

Minnesota took a step closer to becoming the 12th state to legalize same-sex marriage today. Just months after Minnesota voters rejected an amendment to the state’s constitution that would have banned same-sex marriage, the state’s House of Representatives voted 75-59 in favor of a same-sex marriage bill today.

Senator asserts homosexuality poses health risks to heterosexuals (RadioIowa)

A Republican senator Iowa today asserted homosexuality hurts him and his family in “multiple ways”– prompting an openly gay senator to call the statements “ignorant.”

Senator Dennis Guth of Klemme gave a speech in the Iowa Senate to air his concerns about homosexuality.

One Iowa Celebrates Four Years of Marriage Equality with Anniversary Gala

Des Moines, IA—On April 3, 2009, the Iowa State Supreme Court ruled unanimously in favor of marriage equality for gay and lesbian couples. Since then, One Iowa has celebrated that historic decision with our Anniversary Gala. The gala is One Iowa’s signature annual fundraiser and draws supporters from around the state for one purpose: to celebrate equality. One Iowa will present a formal dinner and program with award recipients and speakers.

The evening’s keynote speaker is Michelangelo Signorile, Editor-at-Large for Huffington Post's Gay Voices and author of Queer in America.

Supreme Court Proposition 8 Case Arguments Cast Doubt On Gay Marriage Ban (HuffingtonPost)

All eyes were on Justice Anthony Kennedy at the Supreme Court on Tuesday morning as his eight colleagues appeared about evenly divided on the fate of Proposition 8, the California ballot referendum passed in November 2008 that banned same-sex marriage, reversing by popular vote the state Supreme Court's decision just months earlier to recognize marriage equality.
