Democrat Christie Vilsack said Tuesday she resists political labels describing her as liberal, conservative or moderate, but she made it clear she supports abortion rights and same-sex marriage.
Vilsack, who is challenging U.S. Rep. Steve King for Iowa’s 4th District congressional seat, said abortion is a hard choice but it is guaranteed under Roe v. Wade, the 1973 U.S. Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion nationwide.
She also said she endorses the April 2009 Iowa Supreme Court decision that legalized gay marriage.
