The first pro-lesbian Super PAC, affectionately named LPAC, went public with its first endorsement for a political candidate this week. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.) is running for the Senate in November and would be the first openly gay person to win a seat there if she prevails.
The new Super PAC was launched back in July in an effort to make lesbian and women’s voices heard in the political landscape of America during the election cycle and well into the future. The goal of the Super PAC is to back candidates that will improve women’s rights and gay rights with equal fervor, carving out a niche in political debates that is often ignored.
LPAC continues to proclaim its mission statement loud and clear on its website. Part of that mission is to ensure access to affordable health care and reproductive freedom, as well as ensuring economic equality for women and members of the LGBT community.
