On Monday, August 13, President Obama will kick-off a three-day bus tour across Iowa with grassroots events in Council Bluffs and Boone, Iowa. The President will discuss the choice in this election between two fundamentally different visions of how to create an economy built to last and restore middle-class economic security.
President Obama has a vision for an economy built from the middle out, not the top down. During his first term, President Obama has already cut taxes for a typical Iowa family by about $3,600. This has helped Iowa families afford to send their children to college, buy their first home, pay for health care and child care. The centerpiece of Mitt Romney’s economic proposals is a $5 trillion tax plan that independent economists have confirmed would raise taxes on middle class families with children by an average of more than $2,000 in order to pay for tax breaks for millionaires and billionaires.
