Attorney for attack survivor in Lincoln, Nebraska asks fundraisers to direct donations appropriately

The attorney for the survivor of Sunday's attack in Lincoln has issued a request for caution to those in the community wishing to raise funds for the survivor's recovery expenses.

Megan Mikolajczyk of Kirk & Mikolajczyk said that the survivor is very grateful for the generosity being displayed by the community, but also wants to be certain that no money from fundraisers is given directly to her.  To be sure that the funds are not used inappropriately by her or anyone else, the survivor is working with the Kirk & Mikolajczyk lawfirm to arrange a trust which will be managed by a third party during her recovery.  Any amount remaining in the trust — after the expenses approved by the trust as required for her recovery — will be donated to non-profit organizations dedicated to helping the victims of violent attacks.

Those arranging fundraising events are asked to contact Megan Mikolajczyk at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it for information on how to direct the money raised directly to the trust.
