Acclaimed Summer Intensive Will Culminate With July 14 Performance at Holland Performing Arts Center

Some of Omaha’s finest talent will join Broadway’s brightest stars when Omaha Performing Arts and The Broadway Dreams Foundation present Express Yourself, a one-night-only Broadway concert at the Holland Performing Arts Center, Saturday, July 14, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. Acclaimed theater director Matt Lenz (HAIRSPRAY, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST) will direct the concert, which will feature selections from the 2012 Tony Award®-winning musical ONCE, CHICAGO, HAIRSPRAY, London’s smash hit and Broadway-bound MATILDA and more. The general admission tickets are $19 and are on sale now through Ticket Omaha, online at TicketOmaha.com, by phone at 402.345.0606 or in person at the Ticket Omaha Office inside the Holland Center (13th and Douglas streets).

The Express Yourself concert will showcase the results of a weeklong educational intensive July 9-15 presented by The Broadway Dreams Foundation at the Holland Performing Arts Center. Approximately 100 students successfully auditioned for a place in the workshops. Program participants will receive more than 40 hours of training in acting, dance and vocal performance by savvy Broadway veterans who will share their invaluable insider knowledge on the skills needed to make it in show business. Students will also have the opportunity to audition for national casting directors. All will be cast in Express Yourself, where nearly two dozen participants will have featured roles alongside the Broadway professionals.

The students performing on July 14 will experience the full impact of a Broadway show as they appear under stage lights and before a live audience. They will have attended classes on subjects ranging from auditioning skills and vocal coaching to pop styling and song selections. They’ll also see firsthand the dedication and talent required to produce and present a show in just five short days.

The Broadway Dreams Foundation, a national non-profit performing arts training program, teaches America’s youth how to kick start their career with a one-of-a-kind performance workshop taught by Broadway’s brightest stars. Tuition for the Broadway Dreams Summer Intensive is $895 and a limited number of scholarships are available. Acceptance into the program is by application and audition only.
