The Iowa-Nebraska State NAACP Conference has a new president who accepts the national board’s support for same-sex marriage, but a controversy over the issue appears far from over.
Arnold Woods of Urbandale, who had been vice president of the Iowa-Nebraska civil rights group, said Tuesday that he had assumed the presidency to succeed the Rev. Keith Ratliff of Des Moines. Ratliff resigned earlier this month in disagreement with the national leadership’s endorsement of gay marriage.
