Sandy Freeman joined a growing chorus of Iowans on Monday asking schools, communities and lawmakers to do a better job of protecting children from bullying.
The mother of two West Des Moines School District students said she isn’t political; and she dreads speaking in front of groups.
But Freeman circled April 30 on her calendar — the night of a community forum sponsored by the school system — and showed up at Phenix Elementary School on Monday to speak her piece.
After three months of verbal and physical bullying, her 11-year-old daughter transferred last week to another district school, Freeman told the Register.
