A Des Moines political activist says he's encouraging people to rally on Wednesday at the Iowa Capitol in an effort to call attention to bullying in Iowa following the suicide of Primghar teen Kenneth Weishuhn Jr.
The event has been developing via a Facebook group, informally titled “No Bully Iowa.” Daniel Bragg, who has been involved with the Occupy Des Moines movement, said he hopes to see between 100 and 300 people at the rally. He said he already visited last week with legislators and delivered letters at the Capitol.
Weishuhn, 14, took his life last week. He told family and friends he was gay about a month ago, and reportedly endured weeks of bullying thereafter.
