The University of Nebraska-Lincoln LGBTQA Resource Center is sponsoring “Be The Change 2012” this week to bring awareness about the importance of LGBT activism.
Stacey Cleveland, a teaching, learning and teacher education graduate student, said the goal is to educate people about ways they can change their communities instead of simply hoping for the change to happen.
“When you provide education,” she said, “people have a greater awareness of LGBT issues and are more likely to change things.”
Cleveland said it’s the first year the resource center has hosted “Be The Change Week.”
