Congressman chooses surfing the Internet over doing his job

Congressman Steve King showed yesterday that he is unwilling to get to work for the people of Iowa. During a Judiciary Committee meeting yesterday, King tweeted “We are debating the Stop Online Piracy Act and Shiela [sic] Jackson has so bored me that I’m killing time by surfing the Internet.”

Following responses from many of his constituents, King refused to apologize for disrespecting a colleague and ignoring his work. In a message sent to his followers last night, he said Iowans should “get a sense of humor.”

“There’s nothing humorous about a Congressman who consistently puts Iowa last and is unwilling to do the job that his constituents elected him for,” said Iowa Democratic Party Chairwoman Sue Dvorsky. “Iowans are tired of watching as Congressman King blocks support for the middle class, votes against disaster relief, and jokes about not doing his job. They deserve someone who will work for Iowa, not against it.”

More information about Steve King’s lack of results for Iowa is available on the Iowa Democratic Party’s website, NotWorkingForIowa.com.
