StageWest - "Next Fall" - a timely and relevant play for the GLBT community

StageWest has always been proud to tell stories that speak directly to the gay community and if you only have time for one theatre experience this year, I would suggest this is it (well, okay, I know many of you will also be attending "Wicked").   "Next Fall" is an acclaimed new play making its Iowa debut this Friday at the Civic Center's Stoner Theatre.  Presented by StageWest Theatre Company, "Next Fall" received Best Play nominations for the Tony Award, plus Drama Desk and Outer Critics' Circle Awards.  It is guaranteed to start a conversation!

"Next Fall" is a timely, witty and compelling story of understanding and acceptance in a world of colliding religious views.

Luke believes in God.  Adam believes in everything else. Next Fall portrays the ups and downs of this unlikely couple’s five-year relationship with sharp humor and unflinching honesty. And when an accident changes everything, Adam must turn to Luke’s family and friends for support… and answers. Next Fall paints a beautiful and funny portrait of modern romance, asking the hard questions about commitment, love, and faith.

“Five stars.  The best new play of the Broadway season.  Be prepared to laugh some, perhaps to cry some, and then to rise in appreciation.”  Time Out New York

“Artful, thoughtful and moving story.”  Ben Brantley, New York Times

Special talk-back ("God and Gays") with the audience follows the Sunday, Nov. 13th matinee.  Even if you are not attending that performance, you are welcome to join the conversation, beginning about 5:20 PM.  The discussion will be led by Brian Eslinger, religion lecturer at Iowa State and Unitarian pastor.
