In an interview with ‘Iowa State Daily,’ Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul said that straight soldiers are “causing more trouble than the gays,” a group right-wingers claimed would run rampant after Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’s repeal.
Conservatives argued that once out of the closet, gays, particularly gay men, would have a field day flirting with their peers.
Libertarian Paul, who supported DADT’s end, disagrees, and told the paper “[there are] men and women getting into trouble with each other too. And there’s a lot more heterosexuals in the military, so logically they’re causing more trouble than gays.”
