Diversity Focus Hosts the Sixth Annual Student Diversity Leadership Conference
Everyone has the potential to reach true greatness. At the sixth Annual Student Diversity Conference students will explore diversity and develop cultural competency. The Student Diversity Leadership Conference works to show students how to not only overcome differences, but embrace them for personal and professional success.
Registration is open to all high school aged students and educators from public, private or home school environments. The Student Diversity Leadership Conference is on October 19, 2011 from 8am-3pm, at Mount Mercy University, 1330 Elmhurst Drive NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402.
“I would encourage students & faculty to attend the Diversity Focus Student Leadership Conference,” says Dr. Dave Benson, Superintendent Cedar Rapids Schools. “I have found this conference to be excellent for our students in gaining and understanding cultural diversity.”
The keynote speaker is Ty Howard; founder, chairman, and CEO of InspiraGen Institute, LLC. Mr. Howard is a recognized around the world as a highly sought after dynamic motivational speaker and empowerment consultant. Mr. Howard will also facilitate a student workshop entitled, “Making the Embracing & Celebration of Diversity Cool.” Terry Stevens will facilitate a workshop for educators entitled “Thinking Outside the Box, Circle, and Triangle: Diversity and Student Engagement.”
The Student Diversity Leadership Conference is free to attend for students and educators and includes a t-shirt.
