Lambda Legal, along with cosponsors One Iowa, ACLU-Iowa, American Constitution Society Iowa Lawyer Chapter, American Judicature Society, Justice Not Politics, and Justice at Stake, among others, invite you to attend "Defending Iowa’s Courts: An Anniversary Event." Join them for an evening of conversation and debate as legislators, journalists, judges and community members explore the continued controversies over last year’s ouster of the three Iowa Supreme Court justices who were part of the unanimous court that ruled in favor of marriage equality in the landmark Varnum decision.
The event will be held on October 26th, 2011 (4:30-7:30pm) at the Des Moines Central Library (1000 Grand Avenue, Des Moines) and on October 27th, 2011 (5:30-8:30pm) at the Iowa City Public Library (123 South Linn Street, Iowa City). Featured speakers include Senator Jeff Angelo, Senator Bob Dvorsky, Senator Matt McCoy, Todd Dorman, District Judge Robert Hanson, and Lambda Legal Fair Courts Manager Meredith Palmer. Complimentary food and beverages will be provided.
