The Iowa Democratic Party has set the special nominating convention in Senate District 18 for Wednesday, September 28, 2011, following the Linn County Democrats’ Central Committee meeting at the Hiawatha Community Center: 101 Emmons Street, Hiawatha, IA.

Delegates to this convention will choose the Democratic nominee to fill the vacancy left by a retiring Democratic State Senator. Eligible delegates to the convention are precinct committee people from Senate District 18 who were duly elected at the 2010 precinct caucuses or the precinct committee persons who have been duly elected by the Linn county Democratic central committee since the 2010 precinct caucuses.

“This is an incredibly significant race and I know the Linn County Democrats will nominate a strong candidate who will work to make Iowa a better place,” said Iowa Democratic Party Chairwoman Sue Dvorsky. “We look forward to working with the countless volunteers who have already signed up at KeepTheMajority.com to ensure a Democratic victory in this race.”
