The Illinois Human Rights Commission has ordered Universal Taxi Dispatch to pay more than $100,000 to former employee Venessa Fitzsimmons for gender identity discrimination, The Advocate reports.
Fitzsimmons’ employer allegedly called her names, threatened to fire her for being trans and treated her differently from other employees. The Windy City Times reports:
Venessa Fitzsimmons alleges that her former Universal Taxi Dispatch, Inc., refused to help her when her taxi broke down because she was transgender.
