President, governor have both gone on trips promoting jobs
Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad on Monday defended President Barack Obama’s jobs tour — in the wake of questions about his own tour to talk about job creation.
“We’re not saying the president shouldn’t go on a bus tour,” Branstad, a Republican, told reporters at the Iowa Capitol. “I mean, that’s, I think the president of the United States certainly has a right to go where he chooses to go.”
Iowa Republicans have criticized the Democratic president for taking a bus tour Aug. 15 to 17 to get ideas for job creation, calling it a “taxpayer-funded campaign tour.”
