Brian Brown, the president of the National Organization for Marriage, took to the group’s blog to push this rather absurd idea that legalizing same-sex marriage will lead to the normalization of pedophilia. His blog post, according to Equality Matters, started out by touting NOM’s rather pitifully attended bus tour in Iowa. They said sparsely, but when you have more staffers than citizens, sparse is hardly the right word.
They quote a rather large section of Brown’s blog post. Rather than just kind of doing a simple clump hit on this, why not take this a bit more point by point. Brown wrote:
"When you knock over a core pillar of society like marriage, and then try to redefine Biblical views of marriage as bigotry, there will be consequences. Will one of the consequences be a serious push to normalize pedophilia?"
It was Jon Stewart who said it best “Marriage is and has always been a social construct redefined by many different societies.” What is more, it is Karl Rove of all people who has come out swinging against this notion that the United States is some kind of Biblical nation. Rove actually stated on FOX News of all places “We are based on the Judeo-Christian ethic, we derive a lot from it, but if you say we’re a Christian nation, what about the Jews, what about the Muslims, what about the non-believers?”
