Patti LuPone Added to Omaha Performing Arts’ 2011-2012 Popular Series, Idina Menzel Cancels November Dates
Omaha Performing Arts is excited to announce the addition of Patti LuPone to its 2011-2012 Popular Series. LuPone will perform on Friday, February 3 at 8:00 p.m. at the Holland Performing Arts Center in her first concert appearance in Omaha. LuPone joins Huey Lewis and The News and Brooklyn Rundfunk Orkestrata in the Popular Series for the 2011-2012 Season.
LuPone will be appearing in lieu of singer Idina Menzel, who was originally scheduled to perform as part of Omaha Performing Arts’ Popular Series. Due to scheduling conflicts with the filming of the television show “Glee,” Menzel has cancelled all of her November dates, including her November 16 date in Omaha.
Called the “First Lady of the American Broadway Theatre,” LuPone has won several Grammy®, Tony®, Drama Desk, Olivier and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her work on and off-Broadway and on London’s West End. She most recently starred on Broadway in the musicals WOMEN ON THE VERGE OF A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN and COMPANY. LuPone is widely known for her stage credits, including: SWEENEY TODD, EVITA, GYPSY, SUNSET BOULEVARD and LES MISÉRABLES, originating the role of Fantine in the London production.
