
This is your year, fairgoers: Vendors stop at nothing to butter you up
The late celebrity chef Julia Child reportedly said, “With enough butter, anything is good.”
If that’s true, there may indeed be nothing that compares to the 2011 Iowa State Fair, where the 100-year anniversary of the butter cow is churning up everything from calories to competitions.
Fittingly enough, fried butter on a stick will be introduced as a new food item to fairgoers this year.
Oh, there will be other fresh tastes to try, too. A new vendor specializing in barbecued ribs, red velvet funnel cake, deep-fried cheesecake on a stick and chocolate-covered fried ice cream on a stick will be among the new offerings.
