LGBT newsflashes Iowa to grant employees same-sex leave benefits (Westport)
A spokesman for Iowa's human resources agency says state employees who are in same-sex marriages will qualify for family leave to care for their ill spouses going forward.
Communications Director Robert Bailey said Thursday the Iowa Department of Administrative Services will rewrite a rule that barred employees in same-sex marriages from qualifying for spousal benefits under the Family Medical Leave Act.
