UPDATE: John Bohannon, freshman center for the UTEP basketball team, issued an apology via his Twitter account just before 5 p.m. June 9. The apology was referencing an anti-gay comment that was posted on his Twitter account June 6.


He tweeted: "To those who were offended by my tweet a few days ago. Didn't mean any disrespect by it as I do not judge anybody by their sexual preferences." He later tweeted, "And would hope you would not judge me by one tweet."

At a time when the NBA is promoting its Think B4 You Speak campaign, an anti-gay comment was posted from a UTEP basketball player's Twitter account June 6. Freshman center John Bohannon allegedly tweeted: "#letsbereal it is NOT cool to be gay! (Zro voice) *jordan shrug*."
