Gingrich group gave to effort against justices (DesMoinesRegister)

A group connected to former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich contributed $125,000 to a Mississippi nonprofit organization that financed much of the effort to remove three members of the Iowa Supreme Court, the Gingrich group's director confirmed Tuesday.


Rick Tyler, chairman of Renewing American Leadership, said his group's fundraising arm - ReAL Action - provided the money in a general purpose grant last year to AFA Action Inc., a nonprofit arm of the American Family Association, which bills itself as a conservative pro-family organization.

Sending money from one nonprofit advocacy organization to another appears to be legal, according to campaign finance experts.
