
Utah State Representative LaVar Christensen-R, Draper, has introduced two bills to the Utah Legislature that could possibly ban gays, lesbians, and singles from publicly funded programs.
HB270 says that “Marriage and family predate all governments and are supported by and consistent with the Laws of Nature and God, the Creator and Supreme Judge of the World, affirmed in the nations founding Declaration of Independence,” and calls marriage, anchored by a mother and father who are true to each other and the responsibilities of a marriage “the desired norm.”
The bill confirms Utah’s official policy of marriage between and man and a woman, and demands that publicly funded programs, statutes and regulations that support families be “carefully scrutinized to insure that they promote the family” as defined by Utah law.
