We notice that legislation has been introduced in the Iowa House to deny the civil rights of a minority of Iowans - those who are lesbian, gay or bisexual.
Having raised our family in Iowa, our family has always appreciated the live-and-let-live attitude that demonstrates the basic fairness we believe characterizes those in this state.
There may be differences of religion and politics between us and challenge us to listen to each other. There may be strong emotions on all sides of any given issue.
At our best, we respect each other enough to remember the worth and dignity of every person instead of attacking their rights to live within the laws of the land.
