
After weeks of delay by Republicans, the U.S. Senate finally passed a scaled-down version of legislation that provides assistance to 9/11 first responders who became ill from working at Ground Zero in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. The bill was then sent to the U.S. House, where it passed 206 to 60, with U.S. Rep. Steve King (R-Kiron) as the only member of the Iowa delegation in opposition.
Democratic U.S. Reps. Leonard Boswell and Dave Loebsack voted for the measure. Republican Tom Latham and Democrat Bruce Braley did not vote.
King did not issue a statement about his vote, and his office did not respond to a request for comment.
