Students lead two demonstrations against university actions toward Springfield employee (TheCandor)
Twenty students and seven faculty members gathered in the blistering cold on Tuesday to protest the recent controversy surrounding Laine Tadlock.
Tadlock, a former Benedictine Springfield staff member, was the director of education at Benedictine University in Springfield. She married her partner, Kae Helstrom, in Iowa on June 12 and published a wedding announcement in the State Journal-Register in Springfield last July. In the announcement, Tadlock stated that she was an employee of Benedictine University.
Many of the protestors did not know all of the details surrounding the Tadlock employment controversy. However, these students and faculty members protested based on a perceived injustice.
