WATERLOO—Community Aids Assistance Project, CAAP, will host its annual Benefit Saturday, November 13, 2010 at the Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center in downtown Waterloo. The CAAP Benefit raises money to support local health organizations including the American Red Cross, Cedar Valley Hospice, Cedar Aids Support System, HIV Prevention Educational Programming at the Black Hawk County Health Department and the UNI Health Department. It also provides support for individuals and families living with HIV and AIDs in the Cedar Valley. CAAP encourages community members to attend and learn more about how they can help those in need and prevent the spread of this life-changing epidemic.
The CAAP Benefit will include a silent auction, raffle, door prizes, catered appetizers and a cash bar along with their popular CAAP Drag Show that draws cast members from across the state. This year’s Broadway themed benefit will feature show tunes from popular Broadway musicals including RENT which It tells the story of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in New York’s Lower East Side under the shadow of HIV and AIDs. A Pre-Benefit Fundraiser will also be held Friday, November 12, at Kings and Queens Tap at 304 West Fourth Street in Downtown Waterloo beginning at 7 p.m. featuring a drag show from local cast members, a cake auction and 50/50 cash raffle. A Post-Benefit Celebration will also be held at Kings and Queens tap immediately following the CAAP Benefit.
