Republicans To Put Halt To DADT Repeal In New Congress (LezGetReal)

Unless Senator Harry Reid and President Barack Obama can pull of a miracle in the Senate, the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell in a legislative manner dies this session. Representative Howard McKeon, the Republican from California, will be taking over as Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, and he is signaling rather strongly that he plans on rewarding his supporters among the Christian Conservatives by obliterating the repeal of DADT.

According to McKeon, “Republicans on both sides of the Capitol aisle are committed to passing a National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2011 that is not weighed down by the current majority’s social agenda items.” Of course, the safety and security of our soldiers is less important to McKeon than, say, proving that he can stick it to The Gays. This is despite the fact that 75% of Americans want DADT repealed and a strong majority of American service personnel either want it gone or do not care if it is gone.

McKeon wants to undo the amendment which was introduced by Representative Patrick Murphy. Unfortunately, Murphy lost his bid for reelection.
