Washington Post story detailing alleged incidents of bullying by Mitt Romney
Iowa State Senator Matt McCoy released the following statement regarding the Washington Post story detailing alleged incidents of bullying by Mitt Romney in prep school.
"I am deeply troubled by the story today in the Washington Post detailing alleged incidents of bullying by Mitt Romney in prep school, including an incident where Governor Romney allegedly pinned down a fellow student and cut his hair as the student's eyes filled with tears. We have heard too many terrible stories recently about the effects of bullying in our state and across the nation. While the alleged incident took place years ago, Governor Romney's unwillingness to admit fault and apologize for this specific incident is troubling. This incident was recalled by five other individuals across party lines, so simply saying 'I don't remember that incident' and dismissing it as a 'prank' or 'hijinks' is not sufficient. Bullying is a serious issue, and we deserve a serious response from Mitt Romney about these troubling allegations."
